Job objectives and responsibilities

The main responsibilities are to be familiar with emergency procedures for actions to be taken in the event of fire, bomb threat, flood and plant failure etc. To to carry out access control according to the Assignment Instruction and operate in compliance with all Company and Citi requirements.

Main duties

Operations

  • Will be standing behind the barriers visually verifying the authorised identity of staffs as they come into the office.
  • whilst on post will remain vigilant and present a welcoming atmosphere to staffs and visitors entering Citi buildings (meet and greet role)
  • Is to have a comprehensive working knowledge of assignment instructions complete with all current amendments and temporary additions.
  • Is to be thoroughly conversant with telephone, alarm, IT systems, fire fighting, CCTV and any other systems or equipment used in the course of their duties.
  • Will ensure that proper entry is made in the Note Book when he/she is going on break and back from break.
  • Is to detect and prevent any occurrences that may lead to loss by fire, flood, plant failure, theft, vandalism or any other form of crime.
  • The reporting line of the Security Officer is direct to the Duty Shift Manager and will remain so for the foreseeable future.
  • Can assist the Duty Shift Manager during emergency at which time; their role will be as directed by the Duty Shift Manager
  • Is to detect and prevent situations that may lead to accident or personal injury and to ensure that any such situation is promptly reported.
  • Is to present a suitable image to uphold the Clients prestige and the reputation of Mitie Security Limited by dealing professionally with people at all times.
  • Respond to requests for assistance.
  • The Security Officer will not leave his/her post without proper relief and should only be during designated breaks or when responding to an emergency.

Fire and Emergencies

  • Understand and be able to carry out the role required in emergency situations as directed by the Citi.
  • Assist in dealing with all first aid incident within the building

Health and Safety

  • Record and report to Duty Shift Manager all faults, health and safety hazards and unsafe working practices in the fire control room and within the building.
  • Enforce health and safety procedures.

Administration

  • Maintain log books and records as laid out in the Assignment Instructions.
  • Answer telephone calls as laid down in the assignment Instructions.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience of operating at Security Officer level (diserable only)
  • Good demonstrable previous costumer care experience preferable
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Effective decision making
  • Strong people management and leadership skills
  • Effective time management & organisational skills
  • Good working knowledge of security and fire systems
  • Ability to use all Microsoft products and be able to create spreadsheets and managing data
  • Previous experience of conducting audits and preparing client reports
  • Excellent knowledge of GDPR and the use of personal data

Health and Safety responsibilities

  • Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times;
  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment;
  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received;
  • Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system
  • Promote the health and safety of staff in accordance with the H&S policy; including Livesafe and QHSE guidance
  • Ensure accidents are reported promptly and investigated in accordance with company procedures
  • Identification and reporting of, Health & Safety issues, or contraventions
  • Updating all risk assessments when required
  • Recording/reporting all maintenance faults, complaints, queries to the correct department.
  • Record and report all faults, health and safety hazards and unsafe working practices within your area of responsibility.
  • Carry out safety inspection before start and end of duty
