YYC Freight Services is a well-established Calgary based company offering warehousing, ground handling, and transportation services. YYC Freight Services has always been committed to providing a superior work environment, and is proud of its established team of qualified employees.
We are currently looking for a dedicated and motivated candidate to join our team as a 5-Ton Pick Up & Delivery Driver based at the Edmonton International Airport near Leduc, Alberta.
Main Duties:
- Final mile deliveries, both in and out of Edmonton using our 5-ton trucks with air brakes and 3/4 ton cargo vans
- Able to safely travel long distances and complete assigned duties, while maintaining accuracy on all required tasks
- Oversee the loading and unloading of vehicles, verifying shipment information, and maintaining cargo security
- Prepare orders by processing requests; pulling materials/shipments, packing/re-packing boxes and skids.
- Communicate timely updates of critical shipment information using company-provided phone
- Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness
- Assist with performing preventive maintenance when required
- Communicate with dispatchers to complete assigned deliveries and pickups. Able to quickly adapt to evolving delivery requirements and unique customer specifications
- Multi-tasking during shifts to ensure all tasks are completed
Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of verifiable 5-ton driving experience
- Clean Driver’s Abstract with an Air Brake endorsement
- Must be able to pass a CCRC security clearance
- Previous knowledge of temperature controlled vehicles, power tailgate operation, and manual vehicles is an asset
- Strong knowledge of Edmonton and surrounding areas
- Strong knowledge of logbooks and Canadian driving regulations
- Confident to drive in city and on highways in all weather conditions and at all times of day.
- Must be willing and able to be on call for hotshot deliveries within Alberta and across western Canada. Occasional overnight stays are required and the company will accommodations when this takes place.
- Candidate must have a flexible schedule and be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays when necessary. Some days there will be a planned schedule and other days the work will need to be done as it arises. Pay is structured so that candidate will be compensated even if no deliveries come up. Many opportunities for overtime and extra hours.
- Physically fit and able to lift at least 60 lbs.
- Basic mechanical abilities are an are asset
- Clear communication skills & excellent knowledge of English
- Have a proactive approach and a positive attitude, handling all customer interactions in a professional manner
- Looking for a mature and responsible self-starter who takes initiative to ensure deliveries are made efficiently and as instructed
- Prospective applicant will be required to successfully complete an internal driving test at our company headquarters in Calgary, AB.
Position is structured so that candidate will remain at home until a delivery request comes through. This primarily happens during regular business hours, but there will be work that comes up in the mornings, evenings, and on weekends. We are looking for a candidate who is responsive and understands that the workload will fluctuate depending on the day and what our customers have taking place.
Please note starting wage is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. This position has a guaranteed wage of $60,000 per year and the potential to make more for someone who is motivated and adaptable.
